A Nursery Worth the Drive from North Doha

If you live in West Bay, The Pearl Qatar, Katara, or Lusail, you’re not short on nursery options close to home. Little Steamers is genuinely a drive away — this isn’t the closest choice on the map, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What brings families from these areas to our Markhiya campus instead is the curriculum: a structured, STEAM-based program built on the Pre-K On My Way framework developed with the Yale Child Study Center, and a five-stage journey that carries a child from 3 months old all the way to Pre-K without ever having to switch nurseries.

For a decision this early in a child’s life, a number of North Doha families have decided that’s worth the extra time in the car.

  • Families from North Doha
  • Families from West Bay

West Bay is Doha’s business and diplomatic core, and many of the families living there are in high-rise apartments with limited access to outdoor space. That’s often the exact gap Little Steamers fills — a campus built with dedicated outdoor play areas, giving West Bay children the kind of ground-level, hands-on time that tower living doesn’t always allow during the week.

Families from The Pearl Qatar

The Pearl has its own dense cluster of nurseries, so families here rarely choose Little Steamers for convenience. The ones who make the drive tend to be looking specifically for our Pre-K program and its track record of preparing children for admission into schools like the American School of Doha, Doha College, and Qatar Academy — a priority that outweighs the shorter commute of a nursery closer to the island.

Families from Katara

Katara sits between The Pearl and West Bay, and while it’s known more for its cultural venues than as a residential hub, a number of families in the surrounding villas and apartments have found their way to Little Steamers through word of mouth — often via a friend or relative already enrolled at our Markhiya campus.

Families from Lusail

Lusail is one of the newest and fastest-growing districts in Qatar, and as more families settle in before the surrounding schools and services fully catch up, some are looking further afield for an established early years program with years of history behind it rather than a newly opened one still building its reputation.

What Families Get in Return for the Drive

  • A five-stage curriculum from Infant Steamers through Pre-K Steamers, so children don’t need to change nurseries as they grow
  • A Pre-K program built with the Yale Child Study Center, with a track record of graduates moving on to leading Qatar schools
  • Low-ratio classrooms and long-serving teachers your child will actually be known by
  • Dedicated outdoor play space, daily, for children whose home life may not include much of it

Is the Drive Worth It for Your Family?

That’s genuinely a personal decision, and one we’d rather you make after seeing the campus than after reading a page about it. Book a tour, meet the team, and weigh it against what’s closer to home.

Yes — while these areas are a distance from our campus, we have enrolled families from all four who chose to travel for our curriculum.

Availability varies by area and term. Please contact our team directly to check current routes.

Most cite our academic curriculum, our teachers' tenure, and wanting one nursery that covers the full journey from infancy to Pre-K, rather than moving their child between providers as they grow.

Of course — we'd encourage it. Book a tour with us and use it alongside any others you're considering.
